Not exactly sure what to do for your favorite “Pop” this Father’s Day? Be sure to save the date for the First Baptist Church Pops in the Park. The Sunday concert is free and open to the community.
“Pops in the Park will be on Father’s Day, June 17. Our worship choir and orchestra will offer this wonderful evening of patriotic and traditional pop music at Legacy Park, 1898 Legacy Park Dr., beginning at 7 p.m. We are hoping to make this an annual event on Father’s Day,” Dr. Wade Smith, First Baptist Church Senior Pastor, said.
Songs performed at Pops in the Park include The Star-Spangled Banner, The Pink Panther, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Gershwin By George, America the Beautiful and much more.
“First Baptist Church Norman is very excited to present this concert as a gift to our community,” Minister of Music and Worship Arts, Rev. Chad E. Smith, said.
The park is located in the University North Park area between Academy Sports and Redrock Canyon Grill.
“Bring a lawn chair and join us. Several food trucks will be parked at the venue and will open for business at 5:30 p.m. This is going to be a very family-friendly event,” Rev. Chad E. Smith said. “Please invite your families, friends, and neighbors.”
Food trucks that are scheduled to be on-site include Big O's BBQ, The Chosen Juan Mobile Cocina, The Sugar Shack Sweets and Treats, and Kona Ice.
In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to First Baptist Church, 211 W. Comanche St. An announcement will be made Sunday morning.
