Operation Christmas Child Collection Continues

The arrival of October means that the holiday season is quickly approaching. In preparation, First Baptist Church is announcing Celebrate His Gifts as a way for us to respond in gratitude to the ultimate gift of Jesus.

Each year FBC gives generously to support several holiday ministries and offerings. Celebrate His Gifts focuses this generosity under one banner. We began on Sunday with the ministry kick-off of Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes.

Shoeboxes can be found around the church building and at the Family Life Center. Church members are asked to fill the boxes with gifts such as a soccer ball with pump or stuffed animal, fun toys, hygiene items, and school supplies. Members are asked to return the shoeboxes to the church by October 28.

"Our church has been involved with Operation Christmas Child for 15-plus years but that is not the reason for continued involvement," Vickie Riggs, Minister of Community Impact/Adults 55+, said. "This ministry is an opportunity for every member to touch a life and a family in Jesus' name. And, more importantly, we continue because each shoebox has a plan and a path known only by the Lord."

Celebrate His Gifts will continue in November with our Thanksgiving baskets and Giving Trees and conclude in December with our world mission offerings and Christmas Eve gifts of diapers and wipes

"These combined efforts provide the opportunity to Celebrate His Gifts with those in Norman and across the globe. We invite you to participate and get involved as you are able," Dr. Wade Smith said.
