Thank You for Serving in To Norman With Love!

Posted by Angela Atkins on

This past week many of us joined together in service as we participated in To Norman with Love, through projects with our families, life groups, and as individuals. It was an opportunity and a reminder to be more present in our lives and in the lives of those we see each day.

Through our group projects, it was also an opportunity to bless others together in ways we could not have on our own. Several helped serve at our Sunday Supper and clothes closet distribution. Classes donated cartloads of food and hygiene items for our food pantry, while others donated money for it. Others collected money for diapers for the baby pantry of Center for Children and Families, who handed out around 45,000 diapers last year for Norman infants.

Around 50 of our children and youth distributed potted flowers to residents at Rambling Oaks Assisted Living center.

Several classes joined together on Saturday to tackle projects and host a cookout for the children and families in the cottages at Oklahoma Baptist Homes for Children—cleaning out flower beds and refilling them, writing notes of encouragement for the family advisors, building an enormous chicken coop, preparing a garden, baking delicious desserts, grilling hot dogs and brats, and serving our meal to our volunteers and our guests. It was truly a community effort.

Thanks to all for your help in pouring out acts of kindness and love to our neighbors. May it inspire you to continue to look for the opportunities for kindness and mercy that God places in your path each day.
